First, make sure you are washing your face correctly. Do not wash your face 5 times a day with a very strong acne medicated wash. If you over-wash your face, you’ll just strip and dry out your skin which could lead to further irritation. All you need is a gentle wash that cleans away dirt, oil, and dead skin cells. Wash your face once in the morning and once at night. If you face gets very dirty during the day, using a gentle wash in the afternoon should be okay.

Use some sort of medication on your face. Benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid can help to clear up the acne by killing bacteria. Using salicylic acid in a liquid form as an astringent is your best plan. Using a cream with 2.5% to 5% of benzoyl peroxide on existing acne can help clear it up.

Make sure you keep your skin moisturized. It might seem like you are making it worse by moisturizing, but you aren’t. In order to keep your skin looking good, it needs to be moisturized. Use a light moisturizer that will not clog your pores. Also, use a moisturizer in the morning that will protect your skin from the sun.

Using a scrub will also help your skin. Don’t use it everyday, just a couple times a week. This will further help to slough off dead skin cells and unclog pores. Don’t use makeup that will clog your pores and don’t touch your face. Also, don’t pop or squeeze pimples at all. This could cause scarring on your face.
