How Permanent Is Eyebrow Tattoo Makeup?

My permanent eyebrow tattoo makeup needs retouching! Does that sound crazy? Isn’t permanent PERMANENT? Like marriage and love, yes. It starts out strong and we know it will last forever but over time it fades, and after 5 to 10 years may almost disappear. Nothing in life is permanent, not even permanent makeup. So, when your tattoo fades, after a few years, get a touchup to keep it fresh. And when love in marriage fades get a touchup too!

Why Get a Touchup?

Because some pigments turn grey over time and actually look somewhat blue instead of a natural eyebrow color. This is not the fault of anyone in particular but is a natural reaction that skin has to foreign particles. The micropigmentation that is injected into your skin is foreign and the body will attempt to slowly eliminate it. If you tan, exfoliate frequently and use strong astringents, this process may be speeded up. Also, if you are active, swim in salt water or chlorinated pools or if you exercise a lot and perspire, your natural body chemistry will react to the pigment by lightening it or altering its original auburn or rich brown or dark natural color to something else.

If you think that your technician and your pigments were the very best and will not ever require a retouch, then have a look at the tattooed eyebrows pictures of ladies who have had tattoos for several years. You’ll see that the color has changed slightly and that the dark tones have faded. This may be beneficial if the original color was too dark to begin with, but if it was just right, keep it fresh.

Permanent Makeup Touch Ups Every 3 Years

I have my permanent makeup retouched about every 3 years because I like a nice dark eyeliner around my eyes and my eyebrows are very blond so I like to have a good base under my natural hair. I also tint my brows every two months with the same basic shade as the tattoo below and so they look thick and full all the time. I also tint my blonde lashes, about once every two months as well, so that the eyeliner that’s tattooed into the lash line looks natural even without mascara. Since I swim in the sea and my local swimming pool almost every other day, I notice that the dark brown eyeliner fades to a bluish grey and the brows which are a soft brown tend to become very light after a while. I find it’s juts easier to pay a few hundred every 3 years than worry about eyebrow pencils and filling in my brow everyday.
