Making Body Scrubs from Your Own Kitchen
Any Hollywood star will say that exfoliation is an essential part of their skin care routine and is the reason for their super smooth and young-looking skin. Exfoliation is the process of removing the oldest dead skin cells on the skin by the use of body scrubs or other chemical methods. This skin care routine allows for the younger and supple layer of the skin to be exposed. While skin care regiments have been developed to contain chemicals such as salicylic acid to loosen the glue that holds the cells together, the most common exfoliating product would have to be body scrubs. These are natural coarse granules suspended in a gel or semi-liquid substance.
Hollywood stars visit the best spas in town to have body scrubs and keep their skin looking their best. However, with the association of exfoliation services to high-profile personalities, one might think that this routine is expensive. One doesn’t need to visit expensive or costly spas to have body scrubs though. Body scrub products are widely available in leading retail stores and pharmacies and are easily accessible to the public. The most affordable and maybe the safest way to exfoliate at home though are all found in the kitchen. Surprisingly, even the most basic of products at home can be used as a body scrub. Here are a few basic kitchen ingredients that can be turned to a body scrub:
Sea Salt. Combine sea salt with any desired oil, could be olive oil or almond oil.
Sugar. Combine brown sugar with almond oil or jojoba oil and add honey for a more moisturizing feel.
Coffee. Combine coffee with yogurt.
There is reason why Stars only get body scrubs once a week. Over-exfoliation can irritate skin and will remove skin cells that are not dead. When doing body scrubs at home, it is to be made sure that the scrubs are applied gently in a circular motion.
