Popping Your Acne Pimples

In our modern society, instant gratification has become commonplace. Plastic surgery and other medical treatments have allowed people to lose weight relatively quickly or to eliminate wrinkles and fine lines within a few hours. When it comes to treating acne, most people are disappointed to find that instant gratification is not an option. Acne is, after all, a complex disorder that will continue to resurface unless all its facets are addressed. Instead of coming to accept this fact of life, many of us resort to popping our pimples. However, as some have learned, pimple squeezing can have some serious consequences.

We engage in squeezing pimples not so much for enjoyment, but rather to eliminate them. Our initial intention is rarely realized, at least not on a long-term basis. Attacking pimples with your fingers forces the acne bacteria deeper into your skin, allowing the lesion to erupt later on. You can also easily spread the bacteria to pores within close range. The gratification you get from squeezing one zit is not worth two new blemishes.

Acne scars are an integral part of the discussion surrounding pimples popping. Scars are sometimes caused by the lesions themselves, but in more mild cases of acne they are caused by the sufferer him or herself. Picking at any pimple, especially inflamed ones situated under the skin can cause some very unsightly scarring. You don’t want to wakeup one morning after completing your acne treatment to find a face full of scars!

Despite what advertisements tell you, there are not instant cures for acne. Squeezing at your pimples will only grant you short-lived relief. When you decide to get serious about treating your disorder, you will have to completely stop picking at your pimples. Only practice will help you eliminate these bad habits. The quicker you get started, the faster you will have a clear complexion.

You can get decent results within a smaller time period by using some benzoyl peroxide in a 2.5% concentration. This will dry your acne out and prevent your pores from becoming clogged in the future. However, if you decide to first tamper with the pimple, don’t expect any results.
