Summer Skin Care Cream

Summer skin care is something that is so important, but can be difficult to get right. Finding a balance between protecting your skin from the sun while keeping it in tip top condition can take some work, but it is possible and once you find the right summer skin care cream you will have glowing, radiant skin throughout the year.

There is a huge range of sun creams on the market and when faced with such a choice it can be difficult to work out which one is going to best suit your needs, so having a few ideas of what you expect from your sun cream before you look to buy one will really help narrow the choices down for you. The first thing is where you are going to be using it – are you going on holiday or are you just looking for something to use on a daily basis throughout the summer to protect your skin. If you are going on holiday then chances are you will be in and out of swimming pools or the sea, so you will want to get something that is waterproof so your protection doesn’t wash off as soon as you hit the water. If you are lucky enough to be going to more tropical climes then perhaps consider a cream that combines sun protection with insect repellent, meaning you are protected from both in one go.

If you have sensitive skin then you will need to look for creams that are marketed as being sensitive skin cream, particularly if you are looking for something waterproof or with insect repellent as sometimes the ingredients used can be a bit harsh for sensitive skin. The protection factor is very important, the higher the SPF factor, the higher the protection, and the longer you can be exposed to the sun without burning. However, just because you are using a high factor sun cream doesn’t mean you should stay out for longer than you normally would, as it is still possible to burn even with an SPF30 or greater.

All sun cream does is offer your skin that little bit more resistance to the suns rays, it doesn’t make you UV-proof! If you already have dark skin, or a base tan, then you may be able to use a lower factor as your skin will be more used to the sun and able to produce melatonin easily. If you are going to wear anything lower than this on your body then you will need to put a higher factor on your face in order to keep it well protected, remember, UV damage isn’t visible as it happens, it is only by using a high factor skin care cream that you will reduce the risk of UV damage, and keep your skin young and healthy looking for longer.
